Dr. T. Powers Griffin

Dr. Powers Griffin joined his father in practice after receiving his doctorate from the Southern College of Optometry in 1978. “Dr. Powers” grew up in San Clemente and went on to do his undergraduate work at the University of Santa Clara. In addition to his studies while at Santa Clara, he had the good fortune to row for the college crew team competing throughout the United States and the United Kingdom.

“Dr. Powers” has been active in the Laguna Niguel Lions Club since 1980, having served as president in 1984 – 1985 and also 2005 – 2006. He enjoys donating his free time to local school vision screening, health fairs and speaking to groups about Optometry and eye health.

“Dr. Powers” has published articles  in Optometric Journals related to the work the Griffin Optometric Group has done in the contact lens field. He has been an invited speaker to professional groups of optometrists and ophthalmologists about current contact lens developments including colored contacts, contacts for astigmatism and bifocal lenses. In 2001, “Dr. Powers” became part of a select group of optometrists to pass a rigorous entrance exam into the American Academy of Optometry. The achievement signifies “Dr. Powers” dedication to furthering his education in optometric science.

“Dr Powers” and his wife live in Laguna Niguel and are very proud of their two daughters who are social workers and their son who is attending University of Arizona. During his spare time, he enjoys traveling, playing golf and spending time with his grandson.
